What are the benefits of Fresh Apple, Orange and Carrot juice?
Drinking fresh apple, orange and carrot juice is a great way to incorporate nutrients into your diet. Apples, oranges and carrots contain a variety of nutrients with many benefits including boosting the immune system, lowering blood cholesterol, weight loss and eye health:
- Apples are a good source of nutrients including fibre and antioxidants, apples also contain vitamin C and potassium.
- Oranges are an excellent source of vitamin C and folate, as well as fibre and antioxidants
- Carrots are a great source of beta carotene, which our body converts into vitamin A (this vitamin is good for eye sight), as well as vitamin K, potassium and B vitamins.
Thus, combining apples, oranges and carrot into one juice provide a wide range of nutrients in just one glass of juice.
Ingredients
- Apples – most types of apples will work in this recipe, including Gala, Braeburn and Pink Lady, I prefer using Gala or Braeburn for their sweeter taste with just a slight hint of tartness. For a sweet tasting juice, avoid green apples including ‘Granny apples’ and ‘Gravenstein’ apples as these have an intense tart taste with less sweetness. You don’t have to peel the skin of the apples, this increases the fibre content in the juice!
- Oranges – I would recommend easy peeler oranges which are labelled “sweet” when selecting your ingredients from the store, as you will need to peel the oranges before adding to the blender to make this juice
- Carrot – I recommend using a peeler to peel the carrots (this minimises wastage)
- Water (and ice – optional) – as the water content needed in this recipe varies based on the water content of the apples and oranges. I would recommend adding less whilst blending to prevent diluting the drink. I also recommend adding ice, as the blender motor warms up the drink – this avoids the need to store the juice in the fridge to cool it down!

How to Make Fresh Apple, Orange and Carrot Juice in blender
- Add water, apples, oranges and carrot to the blender. Add half a cup of water to the blender followed by the apples, oranges and carrot. Peel the oranges and carrot before adding and cut the apples into slices (to remove the core and seeds) before adding to the blender. Add ice.
- Blitz into a smooth juice. Secure lid firmly onto blender and blitz using the juice setting on your blender, for 1 minute, or until juice is smooth. If required, add another ¼ cup of water to make up to 3 cups of juice – blitz for 20-30 seconds until mixed. Serve and enjoy!
Equipment
To make this fresh juice, all you need is a blender – I recommend Blendtec – this blender has a number of blending cycles and allows you to adjust blending.
Tips to Make the Perfect Glass of Fresh Juice
- Adjust the water – the water content varies in apples and oranges, therefore to ensure you do not add too much water, start with less water when blitzing the fruit and veg – you can always add the remaining water to make up to 3 glasses.
- Use a good blender – it is important to use a good functioning blender to blitz the fruit and veg into a smooth juice. I recommend using a blender (like Blendtec) which allows you to adjust blending options. This also has a scale which allows you to measure the number of cups of juice that you will have (and whether you need to add more water).
- Add ice – this will cool down the temperature of the juice (as the motor of the blender will warm up the drink).
- Use fresh ingredients – for best results, make sure to select the freshest ingredients. When selecting apples, ensure they are firm to touch with no soft spots. Ensure the oranges are also fresh with no seeds. If you notice seeds in the oranges, remove them before adding to the blender – this will prevent any bitterness from the seeds. Ensure the carrots are firm with no soft or brown spots – peel and rinse before use.
- Pause and shake if required – if you notice the fruit is not fully incorporating – or the fruit is not mixing – I recommend stopping the blender and gently shaking and then resuming – this helps to ensure the blade appropriately blitzes the fruit and veg to make a smooth, fresh juice.
How to serve fresh apple, orange and carrot juice
- This refreshing homemade juice is the perfect drink with breakfast or as a standalone breakfast drink! For a wholesome and nutritious breakfast, enjoy this fresh juice with scrambled eggs, or veggie omelette!
- Alternatively, you can enjoy this juice with any main meal or snack – I would recommend drinking fresh juice on an empty stomach (or with a meal) rather than after a meal, for maximum absorption and benefit.
